After a chaotic weekend at the Talladega Superspeedway, the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series travels to Dover Motor Speedway, the 1-mile concrete oval in the northeast. Last year, we saw the Truex brothers sweep the weekend at their home track, with Ryan capturing his first career Xfinity Series victory and Martin snatching his 32nd. The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is off this weekend, as their next race will be at the Kansas Speedway, which will take place on May 4, 2024.

BetRivers 200: What to Look Out For
The NASCAR Xfinity Series’ Bet Rivers 200 will take place Saturday, April 27 at 1:30PM EST. Brandon Jones was the fastest in practice, followed by underdog Kyle Weatherman in second-place. This weekend is a great opportunity for Weatherman to show what he can do behind the wheel, once again proving why his spot in the Xfinity Series is solidified for the foreseeable future. Weatherman is a wheelman who always gets more than he asks out of his equipment in every car he’s driven. But everyone should be on the lookout for regulars, such as A.J. Allmendinger, Sheldon Creed and Sam Mayer this weekend, as Creed is still looking for his first career Xfinity Series win. The four drivers competing for the Xfinity Dash4Cash $100,000 bonus consist of Anthony Alfredo Riley Herbst, last week’s Winner, Jesse Love and Ryan Sieg. This will be the last Dash4Cash race of the season and there is a lot on the line for those competing. There were 39 cars attempting this race and 38 spots available. The only driver who missed the field for Saturday’s race was Chad Finchum, as his qualifying effort was just not enough in his #66 MBM Motorsports Ford. while Brandon Jones will start on the pole for this event and looks to grab his first win of the season in his #9 Jr Motorsports Chevrolet.
Wurth 400: What to Look Out For
The NASCAR Cup Series race will race on Sunday, April 28 at 2PM EST. Entering this weekend, defending race winner Martin Truex Jr. is hungry for his first win of the season, after victory slipped away from him on the final restart at Richmond Raceway earlier this season. His teammate, Denny Hamlin, jumped the restart after Truex led 228 laps before winding up fourth, so best believe he’s entering Dover with one thing on his mind Sunday, which is winning and securing his spot in the 2024 NASCAR Playoffs.

Semi-retired NASCAR Cup Series champion and Legacy Motor Club owner, Jimmie Johnson, will be running his third race of the season this weekend, while his driver and teammate, Erik Jones, is out with a back injury this weekend. Corey Heim will fill-in for Jones, simultaneously making his NASCAR Cup Series debut. Heim will drive a paint scheme inspired by “The King”, Richard Petty. This weekend will be a challenge for all of Legacy Motor Club, as this is Johnson’s first race at Dover in the NextGen car and Heim will have to adapt to the NASCAR Cup Series car. Heim competes full-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, which is a feeder series to the NASCAR Cup Series and Heim hopes to be full-time in the Cup Series down the line.

This weekend will mark Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman’s 300th start in the NASCAR Cup Series. Dover was the sight of one of his seven career victories, after he won this event in 2021. Bowman was unable to compete in this race last year due to an injury, which allowed Josh Berry, to replace him. Berry brought the #48 Ally Chevrolet Camaro home to a tenth-place finish last season, so expect Bowman to have speed on Sunday, as well as Berry, who is running the #4 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford full time this year and currently competing for Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors in the NASCAR Cup Series.
Amongst others to look out for this weekend are Ross Chastain, who finished second in this race last season, Brad Keselowski, who’s had back-to-back runner-up finishes the past two weekends in a row and William Byron, who has already won three races this year and led the most laps at Dover Motor Speedway last year. This weekend’s Würth 400 takes place this upcoming Sunday, with the Green Flag waving at 2:00PM EST on Fox Sports 1 and you won’t want to miss any of the action.
