The Charlotte Motor Speedway, located in Concord, North Carolina, plays host to the 28th INEX Bandolero Nationals September 12-13 and hungry up-and-comers from all over the country are expected to lay it all on the line for a Championship. This race will determine several INEX Champions for the 2025 season, and with a stacked entry list, these kids understand they have to be perfect to walk away with the hardware.

Key notes and drivers to look out for

It’s fitting for this year’s edition of the Bandolero Nationals to take place at “America’s Home for Racing”, which is also the birthplace of the INEX Legend Car and Bandolero Car. There are 90+ cars on the entry list, including several drivers from Canada, and 14 cars on the entry list for the Legend Car race. The Bandits division, which consists of drivers ages 7-11, has 36 entries, while the Outlaws division, which are drivers 12+ and possibly looking to move up to Legend Cars in the future.

Outlaw Division Championship Battle

Going into the feature tomorrow, Winter Nationals Champion Landon Thrasher holds the points lead in the Outlaw Division with 1,900 points. Thrasher has been dominant in 2025, racking up 25 wins and 31 top-5 finishes in just 34 starts. If he can capture his 26th win tomorrow, he’ll all but seal the national title and further pad his margin. For Thrasher, the path is simple: a win or a podium finish keeps control in his hands regardless of what anyone else does.

Chasing him is Carson Sherman, who sits just 24 points back. Sherman has logged a busier season with 40 starts, 16 wins, and 34 top-5s, plus the Thursday Thunder Championship at EchoPark Speedway in Atlanta. To have a shot at the crown, Sherman needs to finish ahead of Thrasher and ideally win the feature. A victory with Thrasher finishing outside the top-3 could swing the points in Sherman’s favor. In short: Sherman must be perfect, while hoping Thrasher slips.

In the Outlaws INEX National Qualifier Feature, Thrasher won, as Rylan Speight finished 2nd, Bentley Thompson came home in 3rd and Sherman finished 4th. All of these drivers will run in the main event tonight, looking to take home a national championship.

Bandits Division Championship Battle

In the Bandits Division, Brexton Busch, the son of two-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion, Kyle Busch, has won 18 races out of 27 starts, boasting an impressive 66.7% winning percentage, and has 1,894 points going into the Nationals. Trailing behind him by only -6 is James Behnke, who has 36 starts and 15 wins and won the Thursday Thunder Championship in the Bandits Division at EchoPark Speedway in Atlanta.

After last night’s events, Busch was the fastest qualifier in the Bandits Division, while in the National Qualifier Feature, Cale Weevil won over Gerald White III, while Busch finished 3rd, and Behnke finished 6th. Tonight’s main feature takes the Green Flag after qualifying, which takes place at 2:30PM EST/11:30PM PST.
